Responsible Tourism
Cascais for Tomorrow

Innovative tool allows tourists to offset their environmental impact by investing in sustainable local projects.

All those who visit the municipality of Cascais and take part in events can now measure their environmental impact and determine their ecological footprint through the Cascais For Tomorrow platform.

The aim is to find a healthy balance between tourism development and the conservation of natural resources, contributing to the preservation of the environmental heritage and ensuring the quality of life of its residents.

How does it work?
The first step is to answer the online questionnaire and measure the environmental impact, using a calculator capable of converting users' travel choices into a cost per tonne of emissions. At the end, the platform presents a simple, tangible and personalised summary for each trip and event.

Faced with the results obtained, users are invited to decide which projects, under Cascais Ambiente's management, they want to invest in, in order to reduce that same impact. The choice is diverse, from reforestation to restoring biodiversity to conservation and sustainable land use in Cascais.
