Did you know that in Cascais there is 1 tree in a public space for every 7 inhabitants? More than 50 per cent of these trees are mature, providing more shade and softening the temperature on hot days. Discover them below.

It's important that we look after the approximately 30,000 trees around Cascais. Their power includes helping to remove toxic gases, influencing energy consumption and playing a fundamental role in people's health and quality of life.
The street trees of Cascais:
- Remove 16 tonnes of polluting gases per year.
- Remove 897kg of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) per year, which corresponds to 269 cars driving for 1 year.
- Reduce daytime temperatures by between 5ºC and 20ºC.
- They prevent 13,871 m3 of water from running off per year.
- They sequester 408 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
