In Quinta do Barão, in Carcavelos, there is the most recent BasketArt 3x3 basketball court. The court features the image of Mery Andrade, former basketball player of CRC Quinta dos Lombos.
This is the fourth 3x3 basketball court inaugurated in Cascais. In São Domingos de Rana, a tribute to the American Kobe Bryant; in Alcabideche, a tribute to the Portuguese Ticha Penicheiro; in Cascais and Estoril, a tribute to the first Portuguese player in the NBA, Neemias Queta and, now, in Carcavelos and Parede, a tribute to Mery Andrade.
Cascais Municipal Council is a partner of the Portuguese Basketball Federation in the promotion of healthy living habits through the informal practice of basketball. The inauguration of this court also marked the launch of a pilot project between the FPB and the brand Equip, official partner of FIBA, which placed, in Carcavelos, the first station of basketball balls that will be available to those who want to use this court.
The 3x3 BasketArt courts aim to combine basketball with other forms of creativity, in this case street art. The courts have been renovated by the artist Gustavo São Pedro (OATS) and are available for everyone to try to emulate the biggest names in national and international basketball.
