Cascais participates in a project to innovate the waste value chain. Transform "garbage" into raw material. This is one of the main objectives of the CircularTech Agenda, a consortium created to drive the digital and green transition in the waste sector.

By innovating the value chain of this sector, this consortium will contribute to a more efficient management of waste, from its disposal to the transformation of waste into valuable resources. To this end, partners, such as Cascais Ambiente, will collect more data to create knowledge, promoting the implementation and development of a new range of products - from software and hardware, to new operating models and differentiated infrastructures - that promote effective reuse, recycling and recovery of waste, transforming it into valuable resources. To this end, the consortium will create an industrial cluster dedicated to the development of innovative products and services in this field. The CircularTech Agenda also aims to empower citizens and leverage the transition to a circular economy, in which the environment and social and economic development are compatible.

With a duration of three years, this consortium has an investment of around €30.4 million, of which €21.5 million is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), under the European Next Generation EU instrument.
