The Municipality of Cascais has participated last week in Milan, in the final phase of the project "Innovative use of location data and technology to improve public services", to explain how the pre-existing municipal structures allowed a timely response to the challenge of the Covid19 pandemic.
This project, funded by the ELISE (European Location Interoperability Solutions for e-Government) Action of the ISA2 Program, aims to provide tools that are better suited to the design of public services that address the new challenges of local public management. In an increasingly participative and collaborative society, the dimensions of governance, citizen involvement, cybersecurity and ethics have not been ignored.
By creating a framework to guide the implementation of projects that have technological and geolocation elements, the project was able to analyze its applicability through the reporting of case studies scattered throughout Europe, using this guiding model.
Cascais contributed with its experience in response to Covid19, which made over 50,000 antigen and serology tests available to the community over the course of a year, during the worst phase of the pandemic. This intervention gave rise to more tailored responses on the ground, either by providing protection elements in strategic locations, or by working with local partners to mitigate the harmful effects on the economy and on the most fragile people in the community.
