The road network links the territory to the school network in a dynamic and sustainable way. Cascais has invested in the efficiency and quality of transport services, as well as in new forms of mobility, basing its choices on decisions that reduce the environmental impact of the network. This strategic pillar has enabled the implementation of free municipal public transport.

9.5 million passengers a year
By investing in free road mobility since 2020, it has been possible to double the number of journeys made, increase the number of kilometres travelled by 85% and transport 9.5 million passengers a year, who choose MobiCascais bus lines to travel around the municipality every day.
7 million km/year on 44 lines
In 2021, the municipal public road transport network had 23 lines. That year, 96 new, more sustainable and environmentally friendly buses came into service, allowing the network to be expanded. Today, Cascais has 44 MobiCascais bus lines in operation, covering around seven million kilometres a year, serving all four parishes, ensuring greater territorial cohesion through public transport.
More than 135,000 travellers
The Viver Cascais Card has brought many benefits to the people of Cascais, including in the area of mobility. In 2024, more than 135,000 journeys on the MobiCascais lines were validated with the ‘Viver Cascais’ Card. Membership of this municipal benefit, which gives free access to public transport within the municipality, has grown by 267% since 2020, representing an added value not only for residents, workers and students, but also for the environment, as fewer cars circulating reduces CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
600 new charging points in the municipality
The installation of 600 charging points for electric vehicles in all parishes is underway. Covering all parishes, almost two hundred electric chargers have already been installed: 22 in Alcabideche, 37 in S. Domingos de Rana, 62 in Cascais-Estoril and 52 in Carcavelos-Parede.
